Best thing to do with a worthless dollar!

Posted in Art, Fashion, Fun, Uncategorized by stylecouch on September 30, 2009

What is the value of a dollar in these times? I would say, as long as they are printing dollars as much as they can, it must be worth quite a dollar … but I must also say that Won Park can make it worth more than a dollar!

He is also called the “money folder”, a practitioner of origami whose canvas is the United States One Dollar Bill. Bending, twisting, and folding, Won Park creates life-like shapes inspired by objects living and not– both in stunning detail.

Toast is back in fashion!

Posted in Art, Fashion, Fun, Photography by stylecouch on September 29, 2009

In the 80 & 90ties it was the lipstick and the mirror to leave a message for your partner, in the year 2000 it was a post-it or a sms and now it it the toast messenger. So like it is in fashion, everything comes back into fashion and after many years of text messages, smileys, chats and emails – the toast bread is back in order to write love messages!

This toaster by Sasha Tseng incorporates a little message board where one can read quick notes. The message also gets “toasted” into the toast itself so it gives new meaning to “read while you eat”.

20 Minutes for a better understanding

Posted in Art, Fashion, Graphic design by stylecouch on September 28, 2009

A better understanding of the lifecycle of stuff. The American Annie Leonard created an great internet documentation “The Story of Stuff” in which she describes the lifecycle of goods and services. Due to the fact that we are forgetting from times to times this lifecycle, I would like to share this really good made and told story of Annie. Even that it is a serious thing we all should think on, the way she made it made me laughing and thinking – hopefully you as well! Thanks Annie for some wake up calls!

Still desperatly seeking for power and energy on this grey Monday I found this cool poster with ALL the coolest superheroes put together!

I guess I am not the only one who need extra power on a Monday morning? No matter which gender you are I believe these photos can bring you some powerful energy! V magazine hired Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott to shoot these sexy and powerful photos of the ice blond Cameron Diaz who stole thousands of hearts from any honest guy in the 90s….I think she is still able to do that??

I am a really huge fan of apple and I love all the products…but as I saw this bling bling version of the iphone I have to admit that it hurt my heart! Where is the played down coolness and the good taste? Those who are dreaming of an Apple iPhone 3G limited Diamond deluxe Gold Edition should not even be allowed to own one as I cannot imagine they have a passion for the product but only for showing off with a sparkling apple…For me it is blasphemy!!!

More Banksy – probably the most popular urban street artist in the world

Posted in Art, Fashion, Graphic design, Photography by stylecouch on September 25, 2009

Yesterday I mentioned Banksy latest work – the IKEA Graffiti Punk. And because I am really impressed on his work, I would like to give you a little bit more insight of his other projects. Whenever you see a graffiti somewhere and even Banksy has not signed it you will recognize it is a Banksy – and always remember it is illegal, so it is not a matter of “take your time” it is the matter that he exactly knows what he want.

There also many videos about Banksy going around in the web – my favorites for you are this reportage and this video with much more of his work.
