AN IT-GIRL FROM THE FACTORY

Posted in Fashion, Uncategorized by stylecouch on January 4, 2010

Edie Sedgwick who is best know as one of Andy Warhol’s famous muses from the 60s. She was hanging out in ‘the factory’ where she was also attending some of his short movies. Even though the movies never happened to be a commercial success, Edie became ‘the Girl of the Year’ in 1965 and she was definitely one of the most remarkable it-girls in the sixty’s New York. Unfortunately the days of fame were very tough and her drug dependency killed her at the eraly age of 28. However, she will remain an inspiring star and by watching the pictures I guess there is no wonder why – Your hair cannot be blond and short enough, your earrings cannot be big enough, you cannot wear stripes enough, your eyes cannot be smokey enough…She was gorgeous!

A Burberry Burger with Gucci French Fries and than a McSunday by Paul Smith?

Posted in Advertisement, Art, Fashion, Photography by stylecouch on December 28, 2009

The Cool Hunter has enlisted Access Agency to implement the McFancy concept, which TCH describes “an upmarket temporary McDonald’s store that launches at Fashion Weeks around the globe such as London, New York, Paris, Milan, Sydney and Hong Kong.” In the business of fashion, the minute you put a designer label on a piece of cloth, the price goes up. I wonder in the restaurant business how much a Burberry-wrapped piece of meat will cost. For all ofof you loves McDonald food as well as you are may be a logo maniac, the restaurant dining room experience coming during Fashion Week 2010 to a big city near you.

Art you can do out of pencil!

Posted in Art, Fashion, Graphic design, Sketches by stylecouch on December 15, 2009

John-Paul Thurlow, artist and magazine cover graphic designer, is recasting his favorite covers with a bit of paper and a pencil. His blog ‘Covers‘ is a hommage to the creative men and women who produce such disposable perfection – in his words: “With each Cover I take a perfect mass-produced object and turn it into a fucked up one-off. Don’t expect perfection here, that’s not the way I see beauty in the world.” In 2010 he is also planing a limited edition book, which should be already on the wishlist of all graphic design lovers.

Posted in Art, Fashion, Fun, Photography by stylecouch on December 2, 2009

Punk is a mentality, but it isn’t a consistent mentality. It’s an attitude, but not all punks share the same attitude. “Punk” simply means you question things! Under this special theme, Worth1000.com started a Photoshopper-Contest called ‘Punkanimals’.

Problems can be big in a small world

Posted in Art, Fashion, Fun, Photography by stylecouch on November 30, 2009

But a small world can be also more funny and  cosy as you can see in the art work of the French artist and photographer Vincent Bousserez called “Plastic Life” and shows in the meanwhile 80 photographs. Inspired by the world of miniature trains, he always carries the mini characters around with him so he can take a when an idea springs to mind. Trust me it is very difficult to give you an appetizer of 4 photographs, because they are so wonderful therefore visit his flickr set and take your on view.
