Sensual art in lovely colours

Posted in Art by stylecouch on April 4, 2011

Evren Tekinoktay’s exhibition inspired by Prince is one of the best visual experiences I had this year. Her collage paintings are full of small hidden and secret detail which you only discover if you keep looking into them… The exhibition is open until Friday 9th April, IMO, Ny Carlsbergvej 9, Copenhagen.

SHOULD INTELLIGENT ART BE FORBIDDEN?

Posted in Art, Debate by stylecouch on March 13, 2011

Art can be emotional, beautiful, provocating, strange, thoughtful etc. If I should describe Danish Nadia Plesner’s art with one word I would say: INTELLIGENT! Drawing attention to the insignificant content in our news stream such as advertising, reality programs, consume and meaningless information about Paris Hilton’s jail trip, Nadia has created a painting with the contrast of a Louis Vuitton bag and the catastrophe area Darfur. The piece called Dafurnica has created a worldwide public debate, however she is now fined by 5000 EUR for each day she is showing the painting!!! Where is the artistic freedom? Where is the freedom of speech?

GRAFFITI ON THE RIGHT SIDE…

Posted in Art by stylecouch on April 7, 2010

Worldwide graffiti is a hated and loved art style , however for me it gives edge and personality to a city as long as it is not just untalented destroying graffiti. After watching this film I was dreaming about being a real graffiti artist. The movie explores the creative process of London based artist WordToMother and the lead up to his third solo show ‘Lost For Words’ at Stolen Space Gallery. A least I would let this guy spray allover around where I live!!!

A Burberry Burger with Gucci French Fries and than a McSunday by Paul Smith?

Posted in Advertisement, Art, Fashion, Photography by stylecouch on December 28, 2009

The Cool Hunter has enlisted Access Agency to implement the McFancy concept, which TCH describes “an upmarket temporary McDonald’s store that launches at Fashion Weeks around the globe such as London, New York, Paris, Milan, Sydney and Hong Kong.” In the business of fashion, the minute you put a designer label on a piece of cloth, the price goes up. I wonder in the restaurant business how much a Burberry-wrapped piece of meat will cost. For all ofof you loves McDonald food as well as you are may be a logo maniac, the restaurant dining room experience coming during Fashion Week 2010 to a big city near you.

Art you can do out of pencil!

Posted in Art, Fashion, Graphic design, Sketches by stylecouch on December 15, 2009

John-Paul Thurlow, artist and magazine cover graphic designer, is recasting his favorite covers with a bit of paper and a pencil. His blog ‘Covers‘ is a hommage to the creative men and women who produce such disposable perfection – in his words: “With each Cover I take a perfect mass-produced object and turn it into a fucked up one-off. Don’t expect perfection here, that’s not the way I see beauty in the world.” In 2010 he is also planing a limited edition book, which should be already on the wishlist of all graphic design lovers.

IPHONE ART

Posted in Uncategorized by stylecouch on December 14, 2009

There is no reason for wasting time in waiting rooms anymore as you can just be creative with your iphone. As I tried to paint on my iphone and realized how dificult it is I must say that I am relly impressed on these amazing small artworks created on canvas alias the iphone screen. Susan Murtaugh seems to be one of the leaders within this field – creating paintings with the ‘brushes’ tool for the touch screen. Also Italy has got a talent, Matthew Watkins spent just minutes to finish his work while he was waiting  for a dental appointment. Download ‘brushes’ and live out your inner artist…
