Still a piece of my heart

Posted in Uncategorized by stylecouch on December 30, 2009

I left a piece of my heart in Antwerp already years ago and when I stumbled on these photos it just confirmed me that this city is loaded with fabulous design, inspiration and amazingly good taste – from my point of you! I am now dreaming myself into this wonderful house . The two founders of CSD Architecten,Britt Crepain & Stefan Spaens build this house for themselves in a narrow street in the Center of Antwerp, Belgium. In the designing and construction process, they focused on materials as natural as possible in colors flowing into each other. The inspiration for the color pallet was found on a beach in France (driftwood, pebbles, the color of the sand). Honestly, I felt a slightly jealousy…

Do you remember your childhood?

Posted in Art, Fashion, Fun, Furniture by stylecouch on November 27, 2009

The Dutch design duo Nathan Wierink and Tineke Beunders can help you with your remembrance, because they created this wonderful marble run, which is called ‘Marbelous’. They applied woodcarvings in a piece of furniture that combines the world of adults with the world of the children. A marble track in a table. A new type of functional woodcarving, that invites you to play. More of this impressive design work and information you will get on there website

Think twice, before you go to the rubbish can

Posted in Art, Fashion, Fun, Furniture, Photography, Uncategorized by stylecouch on September 3, 2009

The great, dutch artist / designer Anneke Jakobs hopefully has not eaten 10 cartons of bananas, before she created this exceptional and also exciting Chiquita Chandelier – because that is the number of banana cartons she used for her recycled chandelier. Her works shows her way of thinking and search, that always starts at stuff – so we should now think twice and creative, before go to the rubbish can. More of her and her work you will find on here website

The architecture and design agency CLAESSON KOIVISTO RUNE was founded in Stockholm in 1995 by Märten Claesson, Eero Koivisto and Ola Rune. Their portfolio contains buildings, interior designs, lighting solutions, furniture, textiles ect. Everything designed and created from quite a simple philosophy : to create, to improve and never to repeat! One of their latest project was the PARUPU, the childrens chair which was shown at the Milan exhibition this year. The material of the chair is DuraPulp which is a mixture of paper pulp and PLA, a completely non-oil based bioplastic made from cornstartch. This combination makes the chair as light as paper but with the strength of plastic. Furthermore the chair is 100% biodegradable.

Diane Steverlynck  is a Belgium designer who studied textile design at La Cambre National School of Visual Art in Brussels. 6 years ago she opened her own studio in Brussels, presenting textiles and objects with passion and history. I fell in love with these cool puzzle style taborets made of raw wooden pieces kept together with coloured rope. A functional but very decorative design! More information on
