Yes they do! The American visual artist Christian Marclay is verifying that in his wonderful artwork. Marclay’s work explores connections between sound, photography, video, and film. In this case here here he is ‘just’ showing, what great worlds you can create out of LP-Covers.

Magic cassettes – more than just music!

Posted in Art, Fashion, Music, Photography by stylecouch on October 27, 2009

The US artist Erika Iris Simmons works with non-traditional media. Most of the materials she works with, have been discarded or donated at some point. Erika loves nostalgia and she hopes that not everything which has outlived goes to waste – and because I do not know anybody who still use cassettes anymore, but I am impressed on what you still can do with it! On her webpage iri5.com and in her shop you will find more wonderful, impressive artwork.

SPOT ON CELEBS!!!

Posted in Art, Fashion, Graphic design, Music by stylecouch on October 7, 2009

On my never ending inspiration trip for cool illustrations, I stumbled on Paul Normansell’s great creations. His dots portraits are featuring the relationship between art and music. Paul has been studying the connection between colours, shapes and sounds and how these factors can stimulate feelings. Based on these studies he has developed his dot-style technique to present famous people – among others The Killers’ Brandon Flower, David Bowie, Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson, Bob Marley and for sure with no exception of the fabulous Agyness Deyn! Have a look here for more of his fabulous works.

The 21-year-old greece designer, Constantine Belias, won my heart today. Like I describe in on of my post earlier, designing album covers, can be an exciting project – but Constantine was so much inspired  by The Killers and there song Glamourous Indie Rock ‘n’ Roll (video), that he made an art work out of it, including the lyrics. So Mini Mouse – let’s rock!
