The days of cable spaghetti are numbered!

Posted in Art, Fashion, Photography by stylecouch on November 26, 2009

With a little bit of creativity you can create wonderful things with long cables. The U.K. designer Maise Maud Broadhead is demonstrating this in a simple way, but with an impressive level of creativity and sense of art. Out of a too long cable, she was creating a wonderful artwork above the fireplace.

Accessoires as a model

Posted in Art, Fashion, Photography by stylecouch on November 24, 2009

This three photos can just be an appetizer for the wonder work of Bela Borsordi. He studied fine art and graphic design with a great interest in psychology but often incorporated photography in his projects. When his friends started working at magazines and asked him to take photographs for them, Borsodi became more interested in photography. Thanks Bela for this decision! Many more great things you will find on his website

Should that tell us something? Is the world crying?

Posted in Art, Photography by stylecouch on November 24, 2009

Marine photographer and environmental lecturer Michael Nolan captured the pictures while on an annual voyage to observe the largest icecap in Norway Austfonna on July 16. He said the image looked just like mother nature in tears, “as if she was crying about our inability to reduce global warming”. So whatever you can imagine to wipe away the tear drops – do it!

In this case we are talking about the Swedish artist Helga Steppan, which has organized all the things that belongs to her into colours and created her artwork which is called ‘See Through’, which ends up by 11 amazing monochrome still life photographies.

Everything I have!

Posted in Art, Graphic design, Photography by stylecouch on November 21, 2009

Sometimes it is really important to get a clear and structured overview about the things you owned. Even that this thought seems to impossible to think for most of us, the former pro-skateboarder, writer and artist Simon Evans has created this stunning meditation on consumerism and his own personal consumption as part of his current exhibition “Island Time,” on display at the James Cohan Gallery in NYC.

Yes they do! The American visual artist Christian Marclay is verifying that in his wonderful artwork. Marclay’s work explores connections between sound, photography, video, and film. In this case here here he is ‘just’ showing, what great worlds you can create out of LP-Covers.

Do you know what a ‘Photographist’ is?

Posted in Art, Fashion, Graphic design, Photography by stylecouch on November 9, 2009

Than you should immediately get to know the famous photographer Jaques Florch – PHOKS – who sees himself as a ‘photographist’ and built up a nice reputation in less than three years by imposing his own universe. I stumbled on his art work on monomoda.com, which is calling his wonderful work ‘photo-strations’. And if you can also find a new word for this amazing artwork, feel free to post it.

Give attention to the cover!

Posted in Art, Fashion, Fun, Photography, Uncategorized by stylecouch on November 5, 2009

Everyday millions of creative people think about how to make things nicer – at the same time, the same amount people are not giving any attention to it at all. Mentalgassi, a German street art collective, are showing us how you can make things nicer and to get the right attention with it. They are covering urban objects like ticket validating machines or public recycling bins with photographic wheatpastes. On their webpage you will find much more of their impressive work.

Pick me up for camping

Posted in Art, Fashion, Photography by stylecouch on October 31, 2009

I don’t know how long I have not been thinking on camping before I saw this video – and I need be honest I also was not believing that camping have something to do with design. I am also not sure if I this let me gain my heart for camping, but the Belgium architect Axel Enthoven, who has won more than 25 international awards in 8 different countries, convinced me to rethink my prejudice. Inspired by the Sydney Opera House he designed a trendy caravan for modern nomads that presents a luxury vacation.
