LAST CALL CHRISTMAS CARDS BY HEART

Posted in Uncategorized by stylecouch on December 21, 2009

If you feel like sending a christmas card and you (again this year) is late , have a look on goods for good’s site where you can find nice graphic e-cards which are part of a charity programme. The cards are designed by 5 NYC and London based illustrators who donated their time and talent for this project which is supporting vulnerable children in Africa with clothing, health and hygiene products. By supporting this project you eliminate environmental damages due to sending cards by post and you give a small hand for suffering children for whom the hand is big!

Art you can do out of pencil!

Posted in Art, Fashion, Graphic design, Sketches by stylecouch on December 15, 2009

John-Paul Thurlow, artist and magazine cover graphic designer, is recasting his favorite covers with a bit of paper and a pencil. His blog ‘Covers‘ is a hommage to the creative men and women who produce such disposable perfection – in his words: “With each Cover I take a perfect mass-produced object and turn it into a fucked up one-off. Don’t expect perfection here, that’s not the way I see beauty in the world.” In 2010 he is also planing a limited edition book, which should be already on the wishlist of all graphic design lovers.

IPHONE ART

Posted in Uncategorized by stylecouch on December 14, 2009

There is no reason for wasting time in waiting rooms anymore as you can just be creative with your iphone. As I tried to paint on my iphone and realized how dificult it is I must say that I am relly impressed on these amazing small artworks created on canvas alias the iphone screen. Susan Murtaugh seems to be one of the leaders within this field – creating paintings with the ‘brushes’ tool for the touch screen. Also Italy has got a talent, Matthew Watkins spent just minutes to finish his work while he was waiting  for a dental appointment. Download ‘brushes’ and live out your inner artist…

Copenhagen Climate Conference – Don’t say sorry in 2020!

Posted in Advertisement, Art, Photography, True by stylecouch on December 8, 2009

This is one of several Greenpeace-commissioned ads that have just been revealed in and around Copenhagen airport this week and it is an impressive idea of Toby Cotton. Greenpeace commissioned Arc Communications UK to create these ads, which picture world leaders in 2020, apologizing for not having done enough to stop the climate change. I find them very powerful – hopefully our leaders do too.

Punk is a mentality, but it isn’t a consistent mentality. It’s an attitude, but not all punks share the same attitude. “Punk” simply means you question things! Under this special theme, Worth1000.com started a Photoshopper-Contest called ‘Punkanimals’.
