THE NEW FASHION COUPLES

Posted in Uncategorized by stylecouch on October 28, 2010

The understanding of a muse is no longer just a silent woman with a beautiful appearance being the favorite motif for painter… The muses have become essential for the designers’ identity. Like Andy Warhol had Edie Sedwick in the 60s most designers are today connected to a stylish or cool person who gives them personality and branding with a real face and not just a model in a picture. Think about Henry Holland vs Agyness Deyn, Sienna Miller vs Mathew Williamson, Sofia Coppola vs Marc Jacobs, Scarlett Johansson vs Stella McCartney etc. It seems that all creators are craving for a huming inspiration source  – which indeed is much stronger than a glossy magazine!

AN IT-GIRL FROM THE FACTORY

Posted in Fashion, Uncategorized by stylecouch on January 4, 2010

Edie Sedgwick who is best know as one of Andy Warhol’s famous muses from the 60s. She was hanging out in ‘the factory’ where she was also attending some of his short movies. Even though the movies never happened to be a commercial success, Edie became ‘the Girl of the Year’ in 1965 and she was definitely one of the most remarkable it-girls in the sixty’s New York. Unfortunately the days of fame were very tough and her drug dependency killed her at the eraly age of 28. However, she will remain an inspiring star and by watching the pictures I guess there is no wonder why – Your hair cannot be blond and short enough, your earrings cannot be big enough, you cannot wear stripes enough, your eyes cannot be smokey enough…She was gorgeous!
